Innovative therapeutic programs for veteran wellbeing
BVAC offers unique programs designed to support veteran mental health and wellbeing through innovative, hands-on experiences. Our programs go beyond traditional therapy to provide meaningful activities that promote healing, connection, and purpose.
Healing through nature, one hive at a time
Our Veteran Beekeeping as Therapy program offers a unique approach to mental health support. Working with bees provides veterans with a focused, mindful activity that has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of PTSD.
The program combines the therapeutic benefits of nature with the satisfaction of learning a new skill. Participants learn all aspects of beekeeping while building connections with fellow veterans in a supportive environment.
Research has shown that beekeeping can have significant mental health benefits:
What you'll learn and do
Learn to inspect, maintain, and care for bee colonies
Develop confidence working directly with bees
Experience the reward of harvesting your own honey
"The beekeeping program has given me something to focus on outside my own head. There's something incredibly calming about working with the bees - it forces you to be present and patient. I've found a real sense of peace I didn't think was possible."- BVAC Program Participant
